Christmas carols are one of my favorite things – and maybe it’s because my dad is practically Clark Griswold when it comes to the Christmas season. I get all of my Christmas cheer from him.

And while we start blasting them as soon as the season begins, did you know there’s been proven benefits to listening to Christmas music throughout the season? Stop reading here, turn on the Christmas carols, and then come back and see why...

1. “The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear”

YES. Christmas music is jolly and transports you into the season. It can relieve bad moods (unless you’re someone who gets in my car and says you “can’t take this” right now, because it’s “too early” in the morning – you know who you are) because it’s familiar and brings back memories of Christmases from the past and singing those songs along with your family and friends.

2. You can be in the holiday spirit while you’re busy

Christmastime is typically busy for so many people. Everyone is trying to wrap-up (pun intended) everything before the year comes to end. Sometimes, it’s easy to find yourself in January realizing you didn’t celebrate the season as much as you wanted, and you are feeling regretful. Well, friends, turn on that Christmas music at the office and listen at your desk! You’ll be feel a who-ho-ho-hole lot better if you do!

3. It reminds you that while things are ever-changing, some Christmas traditions will never leave

Our world is changing constantly, which is no surprise to anyone, but one thing that doesn’t change is Christmas music. While the artists who sing them change, you’ll know you’ll still hear Jingle Bells, Last Christmas, All I Want for Christmas is You, (Baby) Please Come Home, and more every single year. Sure, Hilary Duff had the best Christmas album and renditions of some of these songs, but the others that play more frequently aren’t so bad either. There’s something about familiarity that can help calm us in times of anxiousness and stress.

So when you're sitting at your desk wishing you were more in the Christmas spirit, turn on the Christmas music. You could feel a shift in your mood and feel more in-touch with this time of the year!
