Believe in Yourself

By Gabriele

We've all heard the saying, “If you don’t believe in yourself, no one else will.” For some of us, though, believing in ourselves is easier said than done. I was inspired to write this post after remembering the times of experiencing self-doubt and not thinking I could get to where I am today. I'm sure there are times where you’ve felt the same, but if you can't seem to shake the feeling, this is the article for you.

1. Be Yourself!

In order to believe in yourself you have to be yourself. You must learn the ins and outs of yourself. It sounds like a simple task, but you’d be surprised at the amount of people who haven't taken the time to get to know themselves. The journey to loving yourself is a difficult one, but once you figure it out you’ll feel unstoppable!

2. “Act Natural”

We have all seen that one scene in a movie where everyone has to “act natural” in order to blend in and become a part of their surroundings. That example equates well to whenever you're nervous for a job interview, or if you're wanting to pull something off that you normally wouldn’t do. In my opinion, acting natural in those situations consists of being yourself, but also being the person that you want to be while still staying true to yourself.

3. Speak Positively

There is power behind your words. The negative words we all say to ourselves or others has a greater impact than you may believe. I noticed that it's become the norm to make fun of things such as our looks or personality, but all of the self-deprecating jokes have to stop. The negative thoughts, posts online, etc., are not beneficial to your personal growth and it can stop you from believing that you can do anything you put your mind to. Changing out the negative thoughts for positive will put you into that “I’m unstoppable” mindset. Stop thinking of yourself as less and start believing that you can do anything.

4. Practice Gratitude

Recognizing what you have instead of what you don’t is important because it helps you realize that what you have is enough. It will make you grateful to see that you have things going for you. I would recommend you start a daily list of things you're grateful for. I bet it improves your state of mind tremendously!

Overall, if you have faith in yourself no one will doubt you, but another major perk is realizing that you truly don’t need anyone else in order to fulfill the things that you need in life. Just follow the steps above and you'll notice major changes in your mindset and eventually be your way to being your number one supporter. What others think or say don’t matter and should not affect your day to day life, believing in yourself is all you need to succeed.
