Summer To-do's in Lubbock

Farmers Market

One of my personal summer favorites. You can always find me at the Farmer’s Market on a Saturday if I’m in town. Whether you are actually shopping for fresh produce or not, just walking through the farmer’s market is so much fun in itself. Plus, you get to know some of your local farmers and goodies!

Buffalo Springs Lake

While it may not be the prettiest lake you’ve ever been to, this one is closest and still fun! Even if you don’t have a boat you can take a trip there with your pets and go on a hike, exercise, or lay towels out on the little beach. You can also go for lunch at the marina!

JoyLand

Most people have a love/hate relationship with JoyLand. While it may have quite the character of all sorts of people, there’s nothing like taking your middle-schoolers for a fun amusement park themed night with a funnel cake on the side.

Cookout, Bonfire and S'mores

If you live in a neighborhood, or apartment complex who has the option, invite some friends and host a little cookout. Make it a full night with a bonfire and roast some marshmallows for s'mores.

Bier Haus for a drink

A fun new hot-spot for the summer that offers great food and really awesome drinks. Their patio is unlike anything else and is great for the perfect photo-op.

First Friday Art Trail

This happens on the first Friday of every month and, no matter how many times you go, it’s so much fun. Plan a date night or a GNO and grab drinks, walk around looking at art, and finish off with some dinner and a yummy ice cream sandwich.

Stars and Stripes

Definitely one of the best date night or family night options. If you have a big car with a large trunk or a pick-up truck… even better! Summers in Lubbock are HOT but it cools down nice enough in the evening to wear you can lay out under the sky and watch a movie. You’ll feel like you’re back in the good ole times.

Have a picnic in Tech Terrace Park

In the summer, you can never get enough outdoors time. It’s good for you! Grab your pooch and make some homemade meals (or cheese plates) and head outdoors. I personally love the Tech Terrace park because all the homes around are so fun. Make a stop at J&B for an iced coffee too!
